Punjab Cricket Association Stadium (PCA), S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali)
The Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, located at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), just outside the city of Chandigarh. It is popularly referred to the S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) Stadium. It is a World Class Cricket Stadium having all the cricket facilities of International Level and it is also the Headquarter of Punjab Cricket Association, the governing body for the development and organisation of the game of cricket in the State of Punjab and Union Territory of Chandigarh. It is home ground to Punjab team.
The 19th and youngest Test cricket venue in India, this is one of the larger grounds in the country and sports a lush green outfield. The pitch has a reputation for being lively and supporting pace bowlers. It was inaugurated with a one-day international match between India and South Africa during the Hero Cup on November 22 1993. The first Test match here was held the following season, between India and West Indies on December 10, 1994. One of the most famous one-day matches on this ground was a thrilling Cricket World Cup semi-final encounter between Australia and West Indies in 1996. The PCA Cricket Stadium, besides having the first rate cricket facilities, also run the regular club house for its members providing State of Art entertainment facilities like Health Club, Swimming Pool, Tennis Court, fully equiped library and very comfortable restaurant and bar for the members. It also has its own well furnished rooms for the use of its teams and members. |
