Jogging Tracks
Chandigarh boasts of large number of well maintained jogging tracks.
Shukhna Lake : A two-kilometer-long promenade
along the lakeshore is a popular place for strolling. On any day, early in
the morning, fitness buffs of all age groups can be seen walking, jogging,
and performing yoga or vigorous exercises at the lakefront.
Rose Garden : Also known as Zakir Rose Garden
is Asia's largest rose garden. It is in sector 16 next to the city's cricket
stadium. There is a well maintained jogging track in the rose garden. It
attracks city residents as it provide a breath of fresh air to all who come
to enjoy a walk and unwind.
Shanti Kunj : A number of city residents can be
seen walking at Shanti Kunj. Shanti Kunj means "Abode of Peace". It is
situated between the Rose Garden and the Cricket Stadium in Sector 16. This
is completely a noise free area with natural undulations and therefore aptly
named Shanti Kunj. The natural stream running through this garden divides
the park into 5 areas.
Leisure Valley : The Leisure Valley starts from
the foothills in Sector 1 in Rajendra Park, commonly used for long walks,
jogging, outdoor yoga. It stretches to the 20 acre Garden of Bougainvilleas
in Sector 3, known for its brilliant colours, and crosses over to Sector 10.
Terrace Garden : A small valley running the
length of the sector 33 has been developed into a terraced flower garden and
a garden for walkers and joggers with an illuminated musical fountain.
People enjoy walking well maintained jogging track along with fresh air and
beauty of musical fountain.
Hibiscus Garden : It covers an area of 8 acres
and adjoins the Dakshin Marg in sector 36. About 40 different varieties of
Hibiscus shrubs attracts the city residents in early morning and evening
hours for walk and breath in healthy air.
