Capitol Complex in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, the first planned city of India is located at the foothills of the Shivalik hills. This city is regularly visited by travelers for its popular tourist attractions. The three popular buildings are the Secretariat, the Legislative Assembly and the High Court.

The High Court was constructed in the Capitol Complex during the year 1951 to 57. This popular law interpreting structure has a double roof, which looks like an inverted umbrella. A huge egg-crate screen covers façade of the building. On the walls of the popular courtrooms, woolen tapestries designed by Le Corbusier can be found.

The Secretariat was constructed in the year from 1953 to 1959. This building is the largest and tallest of the three edifices. The structure resembles the shape of an eight-storied concrete slab. The Legislative Assembly is the other edifice constructed in capitol complex in Chandigarh. The building of the Legislative Assembly is really excellent.

The visitors on their visit to this Capitol Complex will come across the Open Hand Monument. This structure is located in the centre of this complex. Le Corbusier also constructed this Open Hand Monument. This superb metallic sculpture is the official emblem of Chandigarh.
